I explained that I was from out of town and that I needed to get back to Seattle as soon as possible to tend to my own customers by the weekend, so i was asking for an estimated time frame. His suggestion was that I should get a taxi or a bus back if I was that worried about it. I was shocked at the rude customer service and have reported my experience to AAA as well. Despite the lack of reviews here, we have discovered there is a "local reputation"...driver beware.
Being a AAA member, I had figured that getting my car fixed by one of their registered shops would be Ok. I was wrong when it came to Deane's Auto Repair. If you're stranded on Mt Hood because of car trouble, DO NOT have your car towed here...
These guys are crooks!!!!!!! Classic bait and switch. They told me $200 over the phone, then when I came to pick it up, the bill was a whopping $600!!!!! The guy said he "even put fuel in it". What, the guy can't read an F'ing fuel gauge??? He also said that "I have to expect these kinds of bills with a vehicle like mine (2005 Excursion)". B.S.!!! Also, the local tow companies are in cahoots with this shop, so stay away from them all. The tow truck driver from "All Ways" towing told me he would refund my money if I didn't like Deans automotive. Well, that never happened, of course. Buyer beware, don't ever take your vehicle here. I'm surprised they're still in business.
I also got hung up on a few times by him for asking questions about the vehicle and the service.
He also mentioned that he does not have a crystal ball to figure out what's wrong with Vehicle...I thought it was essential for every repair shop to have one don't you think?
So when people talk about bad Customer service they truly talk about Deane's Shop. The owner was the most Bi polar person I have yet to come across... His repair went from one extreme to the other without a logical explanation...
This shop has a bad reputation with the local towing companies as well other repair shops around the area... So my recommendation stay away from them at all costs...
Don't ever go here. My car broke down driving back to Portland from Mt Hood. He told me my car needs all this stuff replaced and cleaned. Stuff I could do myself. Told me my back catalytic converter needed to be replaced or my car wont run (the one not even under the sensors...). Charged me 1300! I drive back home and my check engine light comes on AGAIN almost immediately. I take it to Discount Auto Repair on Stark in PDX and they tell me just how much he overcharged me and replaced something that WAS NOT even necessary. If this happens to you, don't make the mistake I made- save yourself several hundred dollars and pay the extra fee to get it towed somewhere you trust. I highly recommend Discount Auto Repair as well- very trustworthy and affordable.
